The Phoenix Zoo will be hosting an online auction, Bidders for Critters , from July 20 at 9 a.m. until August 1 at 9 a.m. Guests can bid on zoo experiences, family fun activities, jewelry, art, home and garden, sports and outdoor packages. All proceeds from the auction help care for the animals who call the zoo home. phoenixzoo.org A camping and outdoor retail shop opened in June near 26 th St. and Indian School Road. River Outdoor + Adventure Garage is an active shop for off-road and overland builds. They offer lifts, wheels, tires, off-road lighting, roof racks, tailgate kitchens and more. In the front of the shop guests will find all their camping needs, including apparel. Kids can sign up for the Summer Reading Game, where participants can earn badges, points and prizes for every minute they read. This year’s theme is “Oceans of Possibilities.” Kids up to age 11 can earn a free personal pan pizza from Peter Piper Pizza. On July 7, speaker Helena Morgan will discuss Home Safety for those living with dementia from 10–11 a.m. On July 14, the topic is travel; July 21 is communication strategies and July 28 is “If I Only Knew Then What I Know Now,” a discussion focused on the ins-and- outs of caring for someone with dementia.
