20 NOVEMBER 2019 By Miriam Cruson The very first Arizona Fall Festival was started by Kimber Lanning, it featured 27 booths and saw some 300 people walk through the gates. Now in its 15th year, the festival has grown to an estimated 30,000 guests. This event is an opportunity for visitors and residents to celebrate local businesses and their contributions to our neighborhoods. Megan Noonan, the marketing director for Local First Arizona – the organization that hosts the festival every year – explains that the festival is “an opportunity to highlight local vendors and tell their story.” This year, 200 vendors will be showcased, ranging from outdoor specialists to naturopathic remedies. Farm to Fridge will showcase its home-cooked meal solutions. Strawberry Hedgehog will show off its endless selection of soaps and Mustache Pretzels will offer its old- fa sh ioned , ha nd leba r mustache-shaped snacks. The festival has something to offer every age group. There will be a kids activity area offering an array of crafts and unique items for the youngest revelers. Kids can enjoy bouncy houses to help bounce off some energy and a take a trip over to Buster, the vintage yellow school bus, to buy a tasty treat. Adventurous guests can take a peek into prehistoric times with Dino Crew Entertainment, which will bring dinosaurs back to life. There will also be a picture booth with well-known superheroes and princesses ready for a closeup. Those over 21 can venture to the Hensley beverage garden where locally-made spirits, wines and beers await. ASU Sustainable Cities Network recognized Arizona Fall Fest as a Platinum Level Green Event in 2018. To keep the honor going, guests can make a $1 donation and receive a reusable wine glass to be taken from booth to booth throughout their tour of over 30 beverage merchants. Four-legged family members are not excluded from this day of fun. Hance Park welcomes pets and there is even a “Kanine Corner” to celebrate furry festival-goers. The venue will be filled with the sounds of local acts and cultural groups who will be performing on stages scattered throughout the festivities all day long. Groups will grace the “Main Stage 2019” presented by Zia Records every hour on the hour.
