Author attends event and creates a night to remember By Amanda Goossen I have something so exciting to share! In January, at our amazing book club that has grown and blossomed and become truly one of my favorite things in the world, we had a wonderful, beautiful, amazing thing happen. We had the best meeting EVER! The Arcadia News Book Club has experienced amazing moments over the past twenty-two months. I remember the being stunned that my vision had come to life. Skype session and everyone was looking at the small computer screen in the tiny coffee shop, mesmerized by the author speaking to us through the wonders of technology. I remember the moments when we’ve spoken to authors who really inspired us, touched our hearts or gave us an entirely new perspective of their book. And I’ll never forget the moment when author Chris Bohjalian spoke to us about his novel Sandcastle Girls and talked about the process he went through to learn about his ancestors and discover the hidden truths behind the Armenian Genocide. I remember looking around the room and as his words cut to our hearts and ripped " saddened and inspired to learn more. But on January 30, 2014 we had our greatest meeting ever. We were blessed by the appearance of local author and storyteller Kindra Hall and it was outstanding. As I interviewed Kindra in front of the group, we learned about her, her career and her passion. And we laughed. We laughed for a really long time. We laughed until we cried and then we laughed some more. So thank you Kindra for making an appearance at our community book club and for educating us on a world most of us didn’t know existed, the world of Storytellers.
