Page 41 June 2013 AAA ‘nerd’ learns value of job by getting a fl at tire Michelle Donati By Michelle Milan About six years ago, Michelle Donati had a fl at tire on the freeway. She didn’t know what to do, wasn’t an AAA member. Her friend helped her tow the car, and she remembers it wasn’t cheap. After that, she became an AAA member. When she received all the AAA information in the mail, she sat down and read all of it. She then developed a passion for the organization, saw a job opening, and applied for the position. “The rest is history,” Donati said. Now she is the public affairs supervisor of AAA Arizona. Since then she hasn’t had a fl at tire. “I’m an AAA nerd. I love the job, what I do, the people I work with,” Donati said. “I work with a most super talented, creative team ever. I’m blessed each day,” she said. She recently moved to Arcadia area from Ahwatukee, which makes her work commute short to 24th Street and Camelback Road. As the AAA spokeswoman, Donati handles media relations and looks for current events such as a big storm or gas- price hike and fi nds out how it will impact travelers. “I get to spread the good news of AAA. It’s interesting for sure. I like it because no two days are ever the same,” Donati said. “AAA does so much. After six years I still learn something new every day.” Linda Gorman, director of public affairs and communication of AAA Arizona, described Donati as pleasant, professional, friendly and ef fi cient. “She’s a real value. We’re fortunate to have her,” Gorman said. Donati’s fi ancée, Colleen Grayman, said Donati loves what she does and always comes home happy. “She’s such a perfectionist. She’ll stay at work late just to fi nish what she’s working on,” Grayman said. When Donati isn’t working, she is in her new home in Arcadia with her fi ancée and their two dogs, experimenting in the kitchen with cooking and baking vegetarian and vegan recipes, running, volunteering everywhere in the community, and spending time with her “huge” family that lives in Ahwatukee.
