Page 39 April 2013 Neighborhood 5K run more than three years in planning By Amanda Goossen Get your tennis shoes ready, at 8 a.m. on April 14, the Arcadia Run will begin at 48th Street and the canal. Runners will race throughout the close- knit Arcadia neighborhood and back to where they started, making the fi nish line a celebration of families and friends who helped make it all possible. Mark Cosmas, owner and operator of iRun, an Arcadia full-service running, walking and hiking shoe store, has been planning and preparing for this 5K run for more than three years. A labor of love, it’s a commitment in his daughter’s name. In April 2010, Taylor Paige Cosmas passed away from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome at 5 months. “The only thing that helped me was talking to people who had been through it as well,” Mark said. During the past three years, Mark and Katie have “run” toward curing the disease that took their daughter and thousands of other children each year. In 2011, Team Taylor was formed and had the largest team at ASU’s Pat’s Run with more than 170 members wearing Team Taylor light blue T-shirts and raising $4,000.
