Page 32 February 2013 Annual Hopi variety show slated for February 21-22 By Lupita Juarez Hopi Elementary School presents its annual variety show at Arcadia High School Feb. 21 and Feb. 22. The show originally was created in the ‘70s by Susan Silverman, run by Sheryl and Alice Cooper for a number of years and directed by Josh and Michele Woodward for more than six years. “It’s really just a labor of love and we are fortunate enough to be asked to run it,” Josh Woodward said. This year Hopi’s 300 students will showcase more than 30 acts of dancing, singing and other performances. Show highlights include the emcees. “The emcees of the variety show play an instrumental role in introducing all of the wonderful acts presented. Every year, the group of the most well-rounded performers are chosen to host the show,” Woodward said. Becoming an emcee is a tradition for the fi fth graders.
