Page 35 November 2012 DEL FRISCO’S GRILLE 2425 East Camelback #110 www.delfriscosgrille.com Del Frisco’s Grille brings group’s vision to Esplanade By Amanda Goossen More than 20 years ago, Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse opened its doors in Dallas, Texas, promising to serve USDA Prime Beef and the best hand-cut steaks, chops and seafood they could fi nd to create fl avorful plates and a fabulous experience. Adding to their restaurant family over the years, Del Frisco’s Restaurant Group is now made up of Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse, Del Frisco’s Grille and Sullivan’s Steakhouse. Each with its own unique style and menu, all are run with Del Frisco’s promise of high quality food and service within a contemporary, enjoyable setting. Del Frisco’s Grille opened June 8 in the Camelback Esplanade, 2425 E. Camelback Road, rejuvenating the complex with delicious food and a high-end, yet comfortable setting. A simpli fi ed, more casual take on Del Frisco’s Steakhouse, Del Frisco’s Grille’s menu is composed of fl atbreads, salads, sandwiches, steaks and small entrée section; the entire menu seems to be designed to offer quality and fl avor without the overly stuffy steakhouse feel. Walking in for a weekday lunch, the tables are packed with businessmen and businesswomen enjoying a break from the hustle and bustle of their day. Friends are chatting and afternoon dates are enjoying the casual vibe in the well-run and attentive dining room. In the evening, the dining room is taken over by a swank and charming attitude, making it not only an area hot spot but also the place to be. The rooftop bar is quite possibly the coolest place in town and the perfect place to sip a Camelback Cooler (Avión Silver Tequila, Solerno, fresh lime juice, Guava juice, sugar and Cayenne Rim) or a Biltmore Hottie (Mount Gay Silver Rum, simple syrup, lime juice, jalapeño slice). Executive chef Kevin Wemlinger has a long history with the Del Frisco Restaurant Group, working for Sullivan’s Steakhouse 10 years ago. Now running the kitchen at Del Frisco’s Grille, Wemlinger tirelessly works to develop new and innovative ideas. Sunday brunch was added in October. “Items such as the red velvet waf fl es and the chilaquiles will be on the menu,” Wemlinger said. The lunch and dinner menu offer appetizers such as the Jumbo Lump Crab Cake with generous chunks of lobster, baked (not fried) to perfection and served with a delicious yet not overly spicy Cajun sauce. The deviled eggs, which may seem like an odd appetizer, are absolutely one of the best things I’ve ever eaten and the Lollipop Red Bird Farms Chicken Wings, prepared buffalo style with an avocado ranch dressing, are fun and full of fl avor. The fl atbread selections include wild mushroom, pesto chicken, roasted tomato and garlic shrimp. Each is served on a crisp, crackerlike fl atbread, which works as a perfect base for the array of ingredients expertly constructed to tickle your taste buds. The wild mushroom, my personal favorite, is layered with fl avor, using mushrooms, caramelized onions and baby arugula. The Seared Asian Tuna Salad is beautifully designed. Full of ingredients typically associated with Asian cooking like Napa cabbage, avocado and a ginger- Continued on page 36 sushi @ delux 3146 E.
