Alternative transportation reduces carbon footprint By Caroline Hester To live a more sustainable lifestyle, marketing consultant Noah Dyer made the choice to sell his vehicle and use alternative transportation for the last two years. “It’s an experience I think people should have. It’s a way for others to truly realize how not sustainable our society is,” he said. Dyer is the director of Sure Spark, a Phoenix Internet marketing company, and has lived in Arcadia for six years. He graduated from the Arizona State University’s MBA program and said the classes were rich in green ideology and inspired him to strive to reduce his carbon footprint. “Noah is all about minimalism and living simply,” said Jason Arriaga, a member of a business group with Dyer. Shemer hosts 47th annual Garden Artist Group show By Caroline Hester The Garden Artist Group is holding it’s 47 th annual Fine Art in the Garden exhibition and sale at the Shemer Art Center March 17 and will feature fi ve new artists. “It’s your average outdoor art show,” Jean Harney said. Harney has shown her work at the event since 1985 and has been in charge of putting on the show for the last 12 years. The Garden Artist Group is an exclusive board of 20 local artists who are invited to show their art at the yearly event. There will be a variety of painters, sculptors, quilters, jewelers, potters and other artists of different mediums displaying their creations. “People want to show there,” Joan Waters said. “It’s got a long history of being a reputable show to display your work.” Waters is one of the fi ve new artists to join the group. The fi rst year the new additions are considered “guests” of the show and after will become members of the group.
