Page 23 September 2011 Tucker Blalock Ladies Loop designed for online safety By Brittany Morris Tucker Blalock, an Arcadia High School graduate and native of the neighborhood, founded www.LadiesLoop.com earlier this year, a website designed for women’s everyday needs. Similar to Craigslist, Blalock said his website is a safe avenue for women to trade, sell and connect online. “At fi rst women found it funny, me, being a guy, pitching the idea to women,” Blalock said. “Over the past months I’ve seen growth, and a lot of satisfaction.” The website’s creation came shortly after the proceedings of the Craigslist Killer, an East Coast medical student’s robbery and abuse of women he encountered on Craigslist. “I was renting out a condo online, and I noticed that women always brought a male companion because they’re hesitant to proceed on their own,” Blalock said. Since its launch in May, Ladies Loop has acquired more than 4,000 Arizona women trading various items from Prada bags to cribs. Personal pro fi les allow women to upload photos and share information about their likes, interests and hobbies. A rating system also establishes a system that allows Ladies Loop users to gauge which sellers they prefer. “It’s more personable, and that’s a powerful tool – women can sell services without any fear,” Blalock said. “I saw that there wasn’t anywhere that women could go online. Ladies Loop allows that.” Kaylen Grekey said she looks for jobs on Ladies Loop and “feels safe” while doing so.
