A performer since she was 8, Hildebrand said she was primarily a singer because she had been a stutterer since she was 5. When she began to sing in the ninth grade her voice took over, breaking her of the long- time habit, she said. Hildebrand has been in the Valley since she transferred from the University to Iowa to Arizona State University to study music theater. After college, she joined Phoenix’s Theater League to play Velma Kelly in “Chicago” and participated in “Pump Boys and Dinettes,” as well as other productions. She has sung with the Kennedy Big Band, the Phoenix Symphony and cabaret groups. As a television personality, Hildebrand worked for eight years with city of Phoenix news channel PHX11 doing short pieces and interviews, as well as commercials and sessions with Big Brothers and Big Sisters. She’s held two-day singing, acting and modeling workshops in places such as Houston, San Diego, and New York. In 2000, Hildebrand received an Emmy for her PHX11 documentary “Christmas House: Enriching Young Lives Through Music,” which followed the lives of three underprivileged Phoenix children who traveled overseas to perform at a Mozart festival in Austria. Hildebrand said she began Life’s a Stage Acting Studio in 2006 and currently has 10 students.
