By Francesca Mena With decision day just a few months away, Arcadia’s seniors are gearing up for college and that includes future collegian of Rice University Brady Lord. Titan Times caught up with Brady to see what he’s most excited for in this next chapter. Brady has gone to Arcadia for all four years of high school. He is the captain of the track and cross-country team, an active Thespian, a member of the Arcadia Ambassadors, National Honor Society, and the president of LEAD Arcadia – a club focused on leadership and equality across campus. At Rice, he plans to major in Global Affairs and minor in Spanish. He hopes to travel the world and connect with its people. When asked about what he’s most excited about, Brady said, “I’m excited to be living on my own, to focus on whatever I want to focus on, you know? I’m excited to meet new people, too. It’s going to be a couple thousand new faces!” WINTER SPORTS WRAP UP Arcadia’s winter sports are wrapping up, so let’s take a look back at the highs, lows, and memorable moments. The boys’ basketball team had a strong regular season led by seniors Max Straus and Mason Kendrick. The team reached several milestones both individually and collectively. During a dominant 81-56 home win over Cactus Shadows, Kendrick reached 1,000 career points. This accomplishment boosted both his confidence and the team’s momentum, which carried them into a tough matchup against nationally ranked St. Mary’s, where they narrowly fell short. When asked about challenges, Kendrick said, “Moving the ball, but we are improving on that every day.” He also highlighted the strong chemistry within the team, sharing how the players support one another: “My teammates motivate me before the games to play aggressive,” he said. This team has a chance to make a deep playoff run and compete for a State Championship. Brady is excited to meet new people, but he won’t forget about his friends and the faces of AHS. “I’ve made some really fantastic friends throughout my time here, and it won’t be the same at Rice,” he said. “I’ll miss all the freshmen on the cross country team, all my theater friends that I’ve done hours and hours of shows with…” After graduation, Brady hopes to leave a lasting legacy as “someone who is always uplifting and supportive…someone to look up to,” And on the track team he wants to be the fast guy: “The fast senior that no one else knows,” he said with a laugh. Titan Times wishes Brady the best of luck at Rice University! Arcadia’s girls’ soccer team faced major challenges this season but pushed through to build a confident and energetic squad. Senior Captain Claire Christensen reflected on the year. “We lost a lot of upperclassmen so we’ve had to focus on rebuilding and strengthening our lineup, but our chemistry has improved so much,” she said. Despite adversity, the team delivered dominant 11-0 and 10-0 wins against Coronado and Mesquite. They also faced tough competition. “Our toughest matchup was against Chaparral. Although we didn’t get the result we wanted, it pushed us and made us stronger!” Claire said. Through ups and downs, the team proved it can compete and grow while dominating its opponents. When basketball or soccer wins, they stay focused, and when they lose, they come back even stronger. This culture is what Arcadia is all about; it’ll bring success for years to come.
