By Francesca Mena This spring, Arcadia theater is proud to present two mainstage productions: The Iliad, The Odyssey, and All of Greek Mythology in 99 Minutes or Less and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee . The Iliad, The Odyssey, and All of Greek Mythology in 99 Minutes or Less , written by Jay Hopkins and John Hunter, is a satirical comedy that presents all the drama and complexity of Greek mythology in a hilarious and fast-paced way for all audiences. Arcadia’s theater and technical theater teacher, Richard Fairchild, is directing this show, with senior Emily Rios Quinto as student director. The Iliad will be open to audiences in the Arcadia auditorium on March 5, 6, and 7. Don’t miss your chance to see the Greek gods walk down the red carpet, a silly reenactment of the Trojan War, and all your favorite Greek myths on the big stage. CLASS OF 2027 JOINS NHS The National Honor Society is an organization that recognizes high school juniors and seniors for their outstanding commitment to the four pillars of NHS: scholarship, service, leadership, and character. It aims to utilize the skills and drive of its students to better the school and the community. On January 14, NHS inducted the class of 2027, marking the official start of the two semesters they will serve. Gia Catton was recently elected NHS President by her peers, and she said she cannot be more excited. When asked how she feels being elected president, she said, “I was actually so surprised and grateful The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is a musical based off of a book written by Rachel Sheinkin, music and lyrics by William Finn, and created by Rebecca Feldman. It is also Arcadia’s second mainstage production for the 2025-2026 school semester. The show follows an eccentric group of six kids, and a few audience volunteers, at the Putnam County Spelling Bee as they compete for the $200 prize and a ticket to nationals. Directed by senior Samantha Hizme, Spelling Bee will have two performances on March 26 and 27. As always, both of Arcadia’s shows are completely student run. Everything onstage and backstage, from the set to the choreography, is created, built, and overseen by students in the tech and acting programs. Keep an eye out for tickets on the Arcadia Theater Instagram in the coming weeks. for everybody who voted for me. I really plan on making this a great year.” Under the leadership of the NHS officers, Vice President Isla Berry, Secretary Sydney Kelley, Treasurer Sarah Salt, and Service Chair Bryce Witt, NHS members will work to serve their school and community. “In the fall, we do Tavan buddies – where throughout the semester, we write letters to second graders at Tavan Elementary – and I’m really excited for that,” Gia said.
