MAY 2025 26 A s spring continues to bring energy and renewal, District 6 has been buzzing with events, opportunities, and powerful moments of unity. Here’s a look at what’s happening this May. SKY HARBOR UPDATES Upcoming Job Fair Looking for a new career opportunity? Don’t miss the Sky Harbor Job Fair on May 6 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the 44th Street PHX Sky Train® Station. Aviation staff are actively promoting the event on social media, skyharbor.com, and phoenix.gov to ensure as many job seekers as possible can connect with employers. Real ID Reminder Starting May 7, all domestic travelers will need a Real ID-compliant license or another TSA-accepted form of identification to board domestic flights. Be sure to check your ID and make the necessary updates to avoid travel disruptions.  PICKLEBALL + FAMILY FUN DAY On April 5, Pecos Park came alive with laughter during the D6 Pickleball + Family Fun Day. From competitive matches on the court to family-friendly activities and engaging vendor booths, the event was a true celebration of togetherness. We extend a heartfelt thank you to all the vendors and city departments that made the day possible. Events like these highlight the importance of creating vibrant, inclusive spaces where neighbors can come together, connect, and enjoy all our community has to offer. We’re already looking forward to the next one! ONE·N·TEN FRESH BRUNCH: A CELEBRATION OF INCLUSION April’s one·n·ten Fresh Brunch event brought together thousands in a powerful show of support for LGBTQ+ youth programs. The event underscored the city’s deep commitment to inclusion, empowerment and advocacy. Notable attendees were Governor Katie Hobbs, Attorney General Kris Mayes – whose moving speech received a standing ovation – Senator Ruben Gallego, Congresswoman Yasmin Ansari, Mayor Kate Gallego and members of the Phoenix City Council. Their presence reinforced the importance of one·n·ten’s mission in fostering safe, affirming environments for LGBTQ+ youth. The overwhelming support at this year’s brunch is a testament to strength, unity and compassion. We’re here to continue building a future where all youth can thrive.
