FEBRUARY 202 28 T o start off February’s note, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the brave firefighters from Arizona, across the nation, and in neighboring countries who are putting their lives on the line to protect our communities. The Arizona Departme of Forestry and Fire Management sent 100 personnel to Southern California to assist in combating the wildfires that erupted in January. They have been working tirelessly to help manage neighborhood of Altadena where the Eaton Fire has burned. In addition to Central Arizona Fire, a second Arizona agency was deployed to Altadena, wh another two were positioned in the Cleveland and San Bernardino National Forests. Central Arizona Fire brought five trucks and a water tank to the scene, conducting tactical patrols to prevent flare-ups. Their dedication and sacrific are truly appreciated. The new light rail extension is here, and will b running in front of City Hall in mid-2025. The community will see trains operating sporadically in the downtown Phoenix area alon Washington and Jefferson Streets, as well as 1st 3rd and Central Avenues to include CityScape in its route. Testing has also extended south along 1st and Central Avenues down to Cocopah. This is a huge step forward for our city’s growth and sustainability, and we can’t wait to see how it transforms travel for everyone. The Phoenix Police Department’s Citizens Po Academy began in April 1986 with the intent to provide business and community leaders an insi look at law enforcement.
