34 NOVEMBER 2024 By Mark Hays Jack Peters and Ben Hancock have been friends since their freshmen year at Arcadia High. Now, as students at Arizona State, the duo has taken their friendship and cultivated it into a business partnership with Pure Power LLC. The company specializes in three main services for Valley residents. “Five years ago, Jack started hanging holiday lights as a side hustle,” Hancock said. “He mentioned the business one day, and I asked if I could join him. That’s when Hook’n’Hang LLC was born. Armed with a few ladders, Jack’s dad’s trailer, and a small budget for advertising, we dove in.” For three months, the pair balanced education with installing Christmas lights around the community. “After recognizing the potential in holiday light hanging and seeing some success, Jack and I wanted to take things further,” Hancock said. “We loved learning the ins and outs of business and were driven by the desire for the freedom that comes with being business owners.” That’s when the pair launched Pure Power LLC, a service-based company specializing in car detailing and power washing. Peters and Hancock began small, with a truck and a power washer, but the company soon expanded. “We secured a partnership with Sotheby’s as their trusted power washing provider,” Hancock said. “Even with this success, we weren’t satisfied. We wanted to challenge ourselves, so we expanded into car detailing, a service we both enjoy for its hands-on experience.” The two soon began hiring friends and fellow ASU students as independent contractors. Their services include premium interior and exterior car detailing, shampooing cars, and washing exteriors with deionized water to prevent water spots. Each wash comes with custom air fresheners and a care package. Through their partnership with Sotheby’s, Pure Power provides power washing for residential and commercial properties, including walkways and driveways. “Car detailing has been our most popular service year-round, with power washing a close second,” Hancock said. “However, during the holidays, our light service becomes the busiest, even surpassing car detailing in demand.” Seeing the business succeed was a dream come true. “It validated our belief that we could be business owners and inspire others to pursue their passions without fear or doubt,” Hancock continued. “Jack, inspired by his father, always sought the freedom and respect of running a business. For me, it was about proving that anything is possible with persistence and hard work.” The light-hanging business is picking up as holidays draw near. The duo can install Christmas lights or procure new ones and handle the setup. “We also offer storage for holiday lights for an additional $50 per year,” Hancock added. Both are currently focused on Pure Power, but Peters dreams of becoming a third- generation race car driver and pursuing more business ventures, such as commercial real estate. Hancock said he’s focused on future endeavors and inspiring others through social media. purepower.com Pure Power LLC offers three businesses in one Former Titans Jack Peters and Ben Hancock have continued their friendship as ASU Sun Devils and co-owners of a local business.
