Jordan, who was previously covered in the Arcadia News July edition for her work with Laws for Paws, continues to make waves in her mission to protect animals. Though she wasn’t the ultimate winner, Jordan said being recognized by such a prestigious platform was a highlight in her dedication to animal welfare. Unlike many who are aware of their journey toward recognition, Jordan’s story began with a heartfelt surprise. “My mom nominated me, but I was unaware she did until we received a phone call saying I had been selected,” Jordan said. Her mother took it upon herself to submit a few paragraphs outlining Jordan’s work with Laws for Paws, which led TIME to TIME to TIME take notice. The selection process involved several stages, including follow- up questions posed to Jordan’s mom by Executive Editor Allison Singer. After much anticipation, the Arcadia High sophomore finally learned of her selection over the summer. The good news was quickly followed by an interview with Allison, solidifying Jordan’s place among this years’ TIME for Kids honorees. At just fifteen years old, Jordan is already making a significant impact and garnering national attention for her efforts. The recognition did not involve a formal ceremony, but for Jordan, the honor of being featured in both TIME and TIME and TIME TIME for Kids magazines is reward enough – and her work is far from over. With Laws for Paws, Jordan has ambitious plans to continue expanding her efforts to advocate for animals, particularly on a legislative level. In the meantime, the nonprofit is still collecting dog boots for the Bear’s Boots fundraiser, an ongoing project designed to help dogs in extreme climates by providing them with protective boots. Her next venture includes partnering with a Boy Scout troop for a new fundraiser, which Jordan said she is particularly excited about.
