VOL. 1 NO. 06 MAY 2024 From the students of Arcadia High School As her high school journey comes to a close, senior Brianna Moy has found herself amidst a whirlwind of emotions. “It’s bittersweet,” she said. “Twelve years of hard work and memories are all coming together now. But it’s also exciting! I’m ready to move on.” The senior also acknowledges the Arcadia community she grew up with and the different aspirations of her peers. “It’s weird; I’ve known them since we were practically babies and now we’re going our separate ways,” she said. Reflecting on the past four years, Brianna recognizes the emotional influence of her teachers. In addition to their unwavering support in her academic pursuits, her teachers have been influential in unconventional ways. “I love having a real, substantial conversation with a teacher, especially when I view them as a mentor/role model. It makes me feel seen,” she said. Her relationships with teachers have helped shape Brianna into who she is today. However, her academic success has come with its fair share of challenges. Especially in this final year, Brianna has faced burnout. Despite that, the dedicated student has worked hard independently and with teachers to find a balance between her everyday life and scholarly undertakings. Brianna emphasizes to incoming freshmen the importance of pacing oneself. “Make sure you know your limits, but remember that you’re only in high school once in your life; don’t forget to have fun!” she said. Brianna plans to pursue a degree in civil engineering at California Polytechnic State University. She is most excited to meet new people and experience living on her own. – Ahva Ghazanfari APPRECIATING ARCADIA’S PTO Arcadia High School’s Parent-Teacher Organization is a group of dedicated individuals who work together to improve and enrich the educational and social experiences of the students and their surrounding community. This group is responsible for running and organizing all things Arcadia. According to President and mom Nicki Ess, the PTO offers two pick-ups annually for teachers to grab supplies and other supporting funds for staff to ensure they can run their classrooms properly. In addition, the PTO offers student support through things such as spirit events, Project Grad, and Fun Friday, along with campus beautification efforts. This year, the goal of the entire executive board was to bring the community together by offering more in-person events, volunteering opportunities and engaging speakers. They were able to do just that, thanks in part to a PTO-held auction at Little O’s with an attendance of about 200 members of the community. Mrs. Ess shared that she joined the PTO because she found it a “wonderful opportunity to support Arcadia students and staff while improving the campus environment and community connection.” Altogether, the PTO has had a very successful year with help from teachers, parents, and staff and they look forward to doing even more next year! – Amelia Guzman WHAT’S NEXT FOR THE CLASS OF ‘24?
