20 MARCH 2024 I t’s been said that there is ‘no going home,’ but that’s exactly what Jared Amzallag did – and in the process, he is providing unique housing opportunities for others to do the same. In 2020, Jared and his partner founded Minimal Living Concepts, a company focused on altering the new-build experience, specifically creating minimal, modern guest homes. The concept has taken off. They have now built 70 such homes, with another dozen already on the books. The structures range from 350 to 1,200 sq. ft., and the company provides ‘total turn-key service.’ “Our company began with nothing more than a website, and the first day it went live, the phone started ringing,” Jared said. “And it just keeps ringing and ringing. We’ve found that there’s a real need for people to have additional space on their property. It can serve as a guest house, a remote office, a playroom for the children, or even a quiet haven for an aging parent.” Most of their clients use these backyard casitas for multi-generational living because they are a better and more affordable alternative to senior living facilities. Jared was born in Los Angeles but moved to the Valley with his parents and three siblings at a young age. He earned his bachelor’s degree in business from ASU’s W.P Carey School. Upon graduation, his entrepreneurial spirit led him to start a marketing agency, and his list of clients ultimately reads like a who’s who. He modestly name-drops a few: “We were lucky to have wonderful clients like Toyota, Nike and Samsung.” Jared credits the overnight success of Minimal Living Concepts to his agency experience. “The deep understanding I have in advertising and social media is a real advantage,” he said. “We are sensitive to consumer needs and wants. We know best how to speak into that.” In addition to the homes, he and his team are developing a $10 million multifamily project in north central Phoenix. They also have their first set of single-family residences in the works. His company has expanded to provide planning and permitting services, architecture, engineering, interior design, investor products, and complete construction. “When I moved back to Phoenix, I immediately fell in love with Arcadia. The neighborhood is all about community, and it is more vibrant than anything I’ve seen. The connection among neighbors is heartwarming, and having Camelback Mountain as our point of reference is very special,” he said. The 34-year-old entrepreneur enjoys traveling with his family, but when he is at home, you will usually find him at the gym. “I wouldn’t say I’m a gym rat, but I do strongly believe that blending physical health, diet and time with family and friends is critically important in keeping you balanced and effective in your life, whatever you may be pursuing,” Jared said. His other passions are movie-going and sampling new restaurants. “It’s a good thing I work out regularly because I love food, especially some of the unique southwestern cuisine,” he said. Jared’s advice to young people just finishing school and considering their career choices is clear and direct: “Pick a path and stick to it because you will gain and benefit from an incredible depth of knowledge.” Wisdom worth following.
