According to her, the organization’s purpose is to provide strategic recommendations to United Way Worldwide and to assist with raising funds to tackle global issues facing women and families. The WUGLC also mobilizes women leaders to advocate for gender equity, mentor women in leadership and philanthropy, and support the overall growth of Women United globally. The organization works for and has more than 55,000 members in over 200 locations. “These women are aligned in making a collective difference in charitable giving, volunteering, and advocacy,” Tetreault said. “The organization’s plans may vary by location but always focus on gender equity and financial and educational equality.” WUGLC has raised more than $2 billion since its founding, thanks in large part to donations from members who have contributed generously at local and global levels. Tetreault said the group always seeks more members to join their mission. “Led by a Steering Committee and working in collaboration with staff, Women United is a tremendous way for women in our community to engage in family philanthropy, join individual and family volunteer opportunities, participate in educational, business networking, and social events, and help raise funds that will support programs and services in Maricopa County,” she said. Tetreault began her involvement with Valley of the Sun United Way as a young professional volunteer group leader. She went on to co- chair the Steering Committee and serve as Board Chair of Valley of the Sun United Way. And now, she co-leads the organization’s Endowment Campaign. “It was such an honor to be asked to step into the Vice Chair position,” Tetreault said. “It is a privilege to serve and lead in this way. I’m excited to continue building relationships, embracing different perspectives, and learning about the unique ways we can approach solving challenges affecting women and families worldwide.” She looks forward to leading the organization’s diverse and talented Leadership Council to create change on a global scale while bringing solution-oriented practices back to Arizona. She plans to advocate for gender equity, grow and strengthen Women United groups worldwide, and leverage partnerships with advocacy and governmental groups to expand the impact of and visibility of Women United. vsuw.org/womenunited Tetreault takes her mission to global stage Jenny Tetreault Jenny Tetreault
