One of our favorite things to feature is news about our schools and the amazing teachers and students within. Phoenix Country Day School graduate McKinley Paltzik ended her high school career on a shining note when she won first place in her category at the 2023 National Speech and Debate Association Championships. Not only did she win, she had an undefeated season that ended with almost 7,000 speakers from around the country heading to Phoenix to compete. While McKinley was obviously proud of her final win, the family was even prouder: “There are so many accolades and stories about McKinley’s unprecedented season and career in Speech and Debate that it would take a small book to express them all. Her mom and I and her three siblings could not be more impressed and proud of her accomplishments and the journey she took to achieve them,” David, McKinley’s dad, said. Our August edition also features an after- school program focusing on nature, Outstanding Phoenix Youth winners and three students who took their love of cooking and turned it into a way to give back to low-income families in the Valley.
