36 NOVEMBER 2022 By Mallory Gleich In 2013, Walmart pledged to spend $250 billion over 10 years on products made, grown or assembled in the United States. In 2021, they upped that number to $350 billion and hope to achieve that by 2031. To help the goal along, the corporation hosts Open Call, a two-day event where 1,100 businesses from across the country pitch their products. Twelve companies from Arizona were invited to the event, and one of those is owned by Arcadia resident Jacqueline Kincer. Kincer is an Arizona native who attended ASU and majored in sociology. For the past six years, she’s owned a company called Holistic Lactation. Kincer explained that breastfeeding her first child was a struggle. She found that support from doctors and lactation consultants was lacking, so she decided to become her own consultant and help other new moms navigate the experience. “I started Holistic Lactation as a private practice International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant, providing home visits for breastfeeding families needing lactation care,” Kincer said. She had an opportunity to meet with a buyer to present her product, Advanced Lactation Formula. By the end of the meeting, she had her own spot on Walmart.com. “It was really exciting. Walmart is the world’s largest retailer, so for a company of their caliber to find value in my product and want to offer it to their customers was a huge honor,” she said. From there, Kincer and her team completed the documentation and arranged the delivery of her product; then, they worked with an item management team and merchant to ensure the supply is up and running. Advanced Lactation Formula comes in capsule form and is an organic herbal supplement for supporting and increasing breastmilk production, increasing breastmilk fat content or balancing hormones – all of which help moms increase milk supply and regain their confidence when it comes to breastfeeding their baby, according to Kincer. She worked on the formula for three years before finding a concoction that worked. “I wanted to be sure this is something that would work for a wide variety of moms with varying health conditions and circumstances,” she said. “Finding a quality manufacturer, producer, third-party tester, among other things, took a little over a year, then I was able to sell it.” Because of her training, Kincer had a solid foundation to help figure out what to recommend to her patients. “Knowing how important it was to create something that would be safe and effective meant that I spent a few years of clinical trial and error to come up with the exact ingredients and dosages in Advanced Lactation Formula,” she said. Kincer explained that the ingredients in the supplement help balance postpartum hormones, specifically ones responsible for lactation, which in turn helps with energy levels, mood and overall health.
