This club is for grade levels first through fifth – participants meet on a different day of the week for four weeks. Folks can donate new or gently used shoes to all FirstBank locations throughout the Valley (there’s one at Town and Country Shopping Center, 20 th St. and Camelback). So far, the drive has collected more than 500 pairs of shoes and raised more than $12,000 for the Phoenix Rescue Mission. phoenixrescuemission.org The City of Phoenix and the AARP Foundation Experience Corps are looking for volunteers ages 50 and up to tutor elementary students in critical literacy skills, the importance of attendance, reducing disruptive behavior and increasing participation in the classroom. Known for its drive-through oil change services, the business will open in the coming months. take5oilchange.com Papago Golf Club ’s renovation and enhancement project started in June and is expected to be completed by October 2022. The golf course will remain open. Renovations include moving the 9th and 18th green complexes and the 1st and 10th tees. The current 442-yard, par-4 6th hole will be lengthened. All golf course bunkers will be rebuilt, and new cart paths will be added. More than 10 acres of turf will be removed to reduce water usage throughout the course. papagogolfclub.com We all remember the Secret Village building on 26 th St. and Indian School, right? Well, word on the street is that those buildings will host some new businesses soon, and one of them might be a pizza spot. Stay tuned as we learn more! The Wine Collective of Scottsdale , a new tasting room and retail shop located at 1 st Ave. and Scottsdale Road in Old Town, features a variety of Arizona wines, and owner Zoya Vora-Shah hand-selects each of the 40 bottles on the shelves. Wines by the glass start at $8, and most bottles are around $30. For the grand opening, the collective is offering an August special: Purchase a bottle to drink on-site for the normal retail price with no corkage fee. Guests will find various water slides, obstacle courses, a giant bubble foam pit to play in, and access to the train and carousel. There will also be food and beverage options available.
