Maryland Ave., Glendale. A similar event is happening in Scottsdale, but this one takes place in the morning. Gila River is hosting a stair climb to honor the people who gave their lives during the attacks on the World Trade Center. Participants will climb the bleachers for an equivalent of 110 stories (2,071 steps) to pay respects. After the race, runners will receive a post-run snack and a finisher’s medal. Three runners will earn bragging rights for the fastest time.
