Head up the west side on the 2.3-mile Double Butte Loop trail that features one small and one big butte. Or take it easy on the east side and visit the iconic Hole-in-the-Rock. WORLD OF ILLUMINATION Keep it simple yet stunning this year with a tour through the World of Illumination, the world’s largest drive-through holiday light display. Tickets cost $33 per vehicle and snacks and drinks are also available for purchase at the beginning of the show. PHOENIX ZOO Experience the fun of a New Year’s Eve midnight countdown – at noon – at the Phoenix Zoo’s Noon Year’s Eve party. There will be a ball drop with a cider or juice toast and kids and adults can play in the snow, participate in snowball target games, a bounce house, DJ dance party and also spend time with the animals. This event is held on December 31 from 9 a.m. to noon. Folks are also invited to the Glow Wild event featuring a wild light lantern safari from 5:30-10:30 p.m. Tickets are $24.95 for adults ages 14 and up and $16.95 for children ages 3 to 13.
