Start the fall season off right at Tolmachoff Farms with activities for family fun, including a pumpkin patch and a six-acre family- friendly, mini and haunted corn mazes. SATURDAY 10/5 Oktoberfest 11 a.m.-8 p.m. at Wheeler Park, 212 W. Aspen Ave., Flagstaff. Because of last year’s crazy weather, the 11-year anniversary of Oktoberfest is getting a second chance. Flagstaff’s “10 year take two” Oktoberfest will entertain over 6,000 guests with costumes, live music and dancing, pretzels, bratwurst, eating and clothing contests and plenty of brews to choose from. Arizona Ave., Chandler. This concert is back for its 20th year and will have guests out of their seats and dancing to the music of Grammy award- winning Queen of Mariachi Aida Cuevas with Mariachi Aztlán, plus a dazzling array of Folklorico dancing. Head to church and enjoy a taste of all things Greek. There will be authentic cuisine, music and live entertainment, a vendor village, authentic Greek dress and a kids zone. Attendees of this event will have the rare chance to view and step foot on the Waddell Dam, plus they’ll be supporting a cause at the same time. There is a 5K, 10K, obstacle course and fun run option for this fundraiser. Attendees will receive a swag bag and the post-race events race is over, families can enjoy activities such as pumpkin carving, face painting and a costume contest. The Taste of Cave Creek Festival is back again with new restaurants and entertainment. More than 30 local eateries will be on-site serving up food and drinks. There will also be a craft beer garden with wine, beer and tequila tastings, a “head to tail” cooking contest, live music and performances and games and activities for the kids. Tickets are $10. The 2nd annual Italian Festival is back and chock-full of all things Italy. There will be live music, authentic Italian cuisine, a gondola photo stage, Bocce ball tournament, spaghetti-eating contest, grape stomp contest, cornhole toss, bounce houses, Italian costume contest and a best- dressed Lucille Ball Contest. Visit the Haunted Happenings zone, including a haunted house attraction, giant slide, obstacle parade on the 19th and then head to the carnival where there will be rides, games and activities for the whole family, plus barrel wars, a petting zoo, car show, live music and pie eating contest.
