The Children’s Museum presents Sandcastles on 7th, a day of sand and beach activities. There will be a sandcastle building competition with the guys from “Sand Masters” on the Travel Channel and you can vote for your favorite creation while enjoying live music, entertainment and food trucks. The sister event to San Diego’s Tiki Oasis, Arizona’s tiki party promises to be just as entertaining. The weekend will be packed with events including an artist marketplace and educational seminars, plus a poolside luau, rooftop parties, cocktail lounge-style dinners and suite-hosted events. Children’s Day in Japan is a national holiday celebrating the healthy growth and happiness of children, but since we’re in Arizona, let’s celebrate closer to home. Activities include: origami arts and crafts, face painting, calligraphy demo, Japanese traditional toys, Make your own dry garden and photo booth. THURSDAY 4/18 Behind the Scenes at Pueblo 10 a.m. at the Pueblo Grande Museum, 4619 E. Washington St., Phoenix. Join the staff at the Pueblo Grande Museum for a tour of the lab, storage and archive areas; all the stuff that the public doesn’t usually get to see.
