The Arizona Bao Fest will feature 10 local vendors showcasing their dishes, such as steamed buns, gua bao, BBQ pork buns and sweet buns. There will also be Asian fusion and noodle dishes. A new exhibit is opening up at the Arizona Center that will showcase the Kids in Focus non- profit, which is dedicated to inspiring and fostering hope in disadvantaged youth. Sixty photographs taken by 30 at-risk kids over an eight-week period will be unveiled this evening. Beside each photo will be a biography of each student. SATURDAY 3/30 Veritas Music Festival 4 – 9 p.m. at Archway Veritas and Veritas Prep, 3102 N. 56th St., Phoenix. Come out and support your local student musicians. The 3rd annual Veritas Music an evening of fine dining and entertainment at Herberger Theater’s 4th annual Plated and Staged event. The night begins at the theater with hors d’oeuvres and live music. Dinner will follow at another location, but there’s a surprise: you won’t know where you’re dining until you get there. There will be multiple stops, so make sure to save room for each course. It’s time to become one with nature, and what better way to do that than with outdoor activities such as guided bird tours, canoeing on the river, archery and fishing? The festival is a way to showcase the history and culture of the Gila River drainage, which is made up of the Gila, Salt and Agua Fria rivers. Starting at the Tortolita Mountains, participants can choose to hike 6, 10, 15 or go the full 21.5 miles (better wear some good shoes). Sure, riding a bike around a 30-mile loop sounds like a rough way to start your Saturday, but what if there are cookies involved? The Rotary Tour de Cookie allows riders to enter at any point in the loop and along the way are 12 businesses ready to share their sweet treats with you.
