18 JANUARY 2019 FRI. 1/18  SAT. 1/19 Dillinger Days 7 p.m. on Friday, 11 a.m. on Saturday, at the Hotel Congress, 311 E. Congress St., Tucson. History buffs and outlaw fans, get ready for the 25th annual celebration of Tucson’s most notorious criminal. Dillinger Days starts off with a speakeasy party on Friday complete with costumes, whiskey and live entertainment. Then, on Saturday, get a front row seat to the Dillinger capture reenactment and enjoy brunch afterward. Tickets are $40 for the speakeasy and $30 for the reenactment. For more: hotelcongress.com. SATURDAY 1/19 Vegfest 8 a.m. at the Sedona Performing Arts Center, 995 Upper Red Rock Loop Road, Sedona. If you’re into plant- based eating or looking to learn more about it, this is the event for you. Vegfest is a two-day festival dedicated to the education of plant-based and vegan lifestyles. There will be a speaker series, panel talks and demos, a vendor village and lunches available for purchase. Tickets are $40. For more: healthyworldsedona.com. German Festival 12 – 8 p.m. at the Desert Sun Stadium, 1440 W. Desert Hills Dr., Yuma. Oktoberfest is a long way away but that doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate early. The German Festival will have everyone’s favorites – bratwurst and other cuisine, folk music, dancing, polka, games, contests, and of course, beer. SATURDAY 1/26 Trout Fishing Derby 6:30 a.m. at the Tierra Verde Lake Park, 301 S. Old Litchfield Road, Litchfield Park. Pack up that fishing rod and get ready for those fish to bite. Tierra Verde Lake will be stocked to the brim with trout ready for catching. Equipment is not included, so make sure you bring plenty of bait and lures and something to snack on. There will be awards given for longest and shortest trout and most trout caught for the day. Registration is $4 a pole for age 15 and under, $6 for 16 plus. For more: Litchfield-park.org. Winterfest 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Black Canyon Heritage Park, 33955 S. Old Black Canyon Hwy., Black Canyon City. Travel to where it actually feels like winter for the 3rd annual Winterfest. There will be a vendor village, arts and crafts, food booths and activities. Take part in the Arizona History Bookfest while you’re there and meet with authors and illustrators of Arizona’s history. This event is free. For more: blackcanyonheritagepark.org. FRIDAY 1/25 Scottish Burns Supper 5 – 9 p.m. at the Yuma Civic Center, 1440 W. Desert Hills Dr., Yuma. Perhaps Scottish culture is more to your fancy? That’s okay, Yuma has something for that, too. Presenting the Scottish Burns Supper, a four course Scottish feast complete with glasses of whiskey, plus poetry readings and a special presentation of the Pipes and Drums from Yuma’s own Firefighters.
