OUT OF THE AREA, BUT WORTH THE DRIVE Join West from Morris Hall For A Special Presentation Accompanied by Guest Speaker Ryan Walsh, MD, PhD with Muhammad Ali Parkinson Center at Barrow Neurological Institute One out of Five Patients with Parkinson’s are Diagnosed Incorrectly. Thursday, June 14th, 10:00am to 11:30am, at Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs Resort 11111 North 7th Street | Phoenix, AZ 85020 The basic principles for identifying Parkinson’s disease have not changed in the two centuries since Dr. James Parkinson wrote “An Essay on the Shaking Palsy.” Diagnosis continues to center on four cardinal points – tremors, stiffness, slowness, postural instability – These do not always accurately identify the disease! His research focuses on combining the structural MRI that shows tumors or stroke damage with a functional MRI, which shows whether regions of the brain are active or not, and an MRI that measures blood flow through the brain. “In Parkinson’s Disease, we know there is damage to the functional networks, the structural networks and blood flow, but we don’t know how those things correlate,” he says. Dr. Ryan Walsh, the MD/PhD who is leading Barrow’s efforts, theorizes that combining three types of MRIs will open the secrets of the disease. Morris Hall Attorney, West Hunsaker, will also be available to answer any questions you may have about estate planning. Planning ahead for unexpected events such as Parkinson’s disease is an important part of being prepared. Attorney West Hunsaker, a partner of Morris Hall, will discuss what documents can be done in advance and why it’s important for you and your loved one.
