The city of Superior presents the Apache Leap Mining Festival, where both men and women will compete in a variety of mining competitions to win $2500. Visitors can also enjoy a parade, dancing, live music, a food and beer garden, reptile show and a vendor garden. You’re sure to “pick” something fun! This event is free. For more: superiorarizonachamber.org. SATURDAY 3/17 Pecan and Wine Festival 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. at the Community Field, 75 E. Holloman St., Camp Verde. Celebrate the spring season at the Pecan and Wine Festival in Campe Verde. Visitors can experience an archeological fair, pie baking contest, wine tasting, a vendor village, and of course, everything pecan! There is also a River Raft and Kayak Run for people ages 12 and up to spend the day on the Verde River (must register beforehand). This event is free for all ages. For more: campverdepromotions.org. SATURDAY 3/24 Salsa Festival 2 – 8 p.m. at the Copper Sky Regional Park, 44345 MLK Jr. Blvd., Maricopa. Salsa Connoisseurs, get your taste buds ready! The Salsa Festival promises to pack a punch this year with local chefs and salsa lovers competing to win the best salsa awards in multiple categories. SUNDAY 3/25 Taste of Oro Valley 5 – 8 p.m. at the Gaslight Music Hall, 13005 N. Oracle Road, Oro Valley. Heard of Oro Valley but not sure what to expect when you get there? Never fear, the Taste of Oro Valley event is here! Guests will have an opportunity to taste and sip from restaurants, wineries and breweries from Oro Valley while enjoying live musical entertainment, gambling tables and a silent auction. Tired of hiking up the same old mountain every weekend? Try something new with the Full Moon Hike at the Chiricahua National Monument. For more: Maricopa-az.gov. Loven Family Run 7 – 11 a.m. at the Blazin’ M Ranch, 1875 Mabery Ranch Road, Cottonwood. Nothing like a good old fashioned family fun run! Head out to Cottonwood and hit the Loven Family Run to support Valley View Care and EntireCare Rehab & Sports Medicine. The 2K, 5K or 10K will take runners through scenic Dead Horse Ranch State Park.
