In honor of the German celebration, here are six autumn brews that you can enjoy to celebrate the season. PUMPKIN PORTER Four Peaks 1340 E. 8th St. #104, 85281 The Four Peaks brewery, located in a historic building from the 1800s, boasts a multitude of brews. Staples include Hop Knot, Kilt Lifter and Peach Ale, but once the fall season hits, the brewery breaks out Pumpkin Porter, a dark, rich beer made from all things pumpkin pie. Nutmeg, allspice, clove and ginger combine to make one of Four Peaks’ most popular beers. ABV (alcohol by volume): 5.1% RICE PUDDING PORTER Huss Brewing Company 100 E. Camelback Road Suite 160, 85283 Huss Brewing Company just opened its newest location in Phoenix, which is perfect timing to try out its Rice Pudding Porter. Made with a mixture of vanilla beans, brown rice syrup, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves, this beer finishes with a white chocolate taste that will make you think of the holidays! ABV: 5.1% HOLLOW PUMPKIN AMBER Peoria Artisan Brewery 10144 W. Lake Pleasant Pkwy., 85382 The Peoria Artisan Brewery boasts a few different brews for the fall season, but you won’t find this beer on tap in August or September. No, this beer comes out in October, just in time for Oktoberfestivities! This amber beer is brewed with ginger, all-spice, nutmeg and cinnamon, with hints of pumpkin and yam. ABV: 6.8% FALL FEST MARZEN Mother Bunch 825 N. 7th St., 85006 This beer will definitely help you get into the holiday spirit. Heavier than your pale ales, this beer could be described as an amber or red. It’s a German -style brew with a full-bodied taste and just a hint of caramel. If you like malt brews, this is the one for you. ABV: 6.2% OKTOBERFEST LAGER SanTan 8 S. San Marcos Place, 85225 SanTan is one of Arizona’s most popular and well-known breweries, and it knows how to keep the holiday spirit going with an Oktoberfest brew. This is a German-style lager with a touch of caramel malt, special roast and wheat from Munich and Vienna. The season for this beer ends in October so make sure you grab one before the end of the month. ABV: 5.5% OKTOBERFEST LAGER SunUp 322 E. Camelback Road, 85012 Tapped at the beginning of September, this is one of SunUp’s best sellers for the fall season. This beer is purely German, made from bready and herbal-spiced Hallertau hops straight from the motherland. It’s a sweet, malty and hop- crazy beer that goes perfect for the name it boasts! ABV: 6.3% SAGE THYME ENGLISH PALE ALE The Perch Brewery 232 S. Wall St., 85225 The name is a mouthful, but so is this beer! Made from a sage and thyme mixture, one sip will have you wishing for Thanksgiving. The herbs are mixed with English Golden Promise Malt and Fuggles hops to give it a strong flavor that finishes deliciously.
