Take a look into the night sky—but this time without the lights of the city to drown out the brightness! At the Red Rocks Star Party, astronomers will be on site to discuss elements of the night sky while you look through telescopes and glance upon the solar system. Messy Fest 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the Horseshoe Park & Equestrian Centre, 20464 East Riggs Road, Queen Creek. Fort Lowell Road, Tucson. This festival celebrates all things Greek with authentic food and drinks, live music, dance lessons, a vendor market, cooking demos, tours of the church as well as kids activities. Mt Lemmon Road, Oracle. It’s an outdoor festival like none you’ve seen before. Not only is there a 10-mile bicycle race and a 10K and 5K run, but this festival also includes food, brews and music. You can sign up for the races and then enjoy seven local bands and BBQ and craft beer from Catalina Brewing Company. There will also be activities for the kids, like a climbing wall and ziplines. SATURDAY 9/30 Man vs. Machine 11 a.m. at the Grand Hotel, 49 AZ-64, Grand Canyon Village, Tusayan. This event is not for the weak of heart! Man vs. Machine starts in Tusayan and ends in Williams, but you’re not driving there. Nope, you’re racing 53 miles on your bicycle. Oh, and you’re competing with a 300-ton steam engine. For those who love a challenge, this is for you. If you’re not into biking, you can always ride the train and join in on the after party, which will include live music, food trucks and drinks. At Apple Annie’s, you can pick your very own pumpkin to take home. After, enjoy the corn maze and family fun activities.
