Whether it was yesterday or 20 years ago, now is the time to check your tires, create your playlist and put in your ear buds. Follow this “bars on bikes” route to hit your spring fever with a healthy dose of “smiling so hard your face hurts” kind of fun. There are a couple of ways to go when it comes to a bars on bikes outing. Invite your pals to meet in your driveway for a pre-ride bite to eat, meet at the first stop at a designated time or take advantage of one of the companies that provide a giant group bike for your tour de tipsy. Safety disclaimer. Wear a helmet and know that there is no shame in Ubering when you’re too impaired to bike. It’s more embarrassing to end up in the canal . THE ROUTE: 1. The Vig 4041 N. 40th St., Phoenix Start things off by meeting at The Vig. Its spacious patio is perfect for a crowd. Sign up ahead of time for emails on its website and get a $5 off your visit. Enjoy a game of bocce and live music on Sundays. If you’ll have a group of 20 or more, The Vig will create a custom menu for your crew. Or enjoy the BARunch from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. 2. Sip Coffee & Beer Garage 3620 E. Indian School Road, Phoenix A fairly new addition to the neighborhood, you may not know that Sip is much more than a café. This former Avis oil change center is the perfect place to refuel with craft beer, inventive cocktails and a locally sourced food menu. Plus, it has a killer patio. If rain strikes, you can seek refuge in the underground tiki bar. 3. North 4925 N. 40th St., Phoenix We had to include at least one Fox restaurant on our list – and North is not to be missed. The patio is the ideal spot to kick back for another drink. Try the Chef’s Board, perfect for sharing, with a glass of wine or a brunch cocktail like the ginger vanilla greyhound. Maybe now is a good time to write down the combination to your bike lock. 4. Arcadia Tavern 4801 E. Indian School Road, Phoenix Hop on your bike and head to the canal for a short ride to Arcadia Tavern. The patio at this neighborhood favorite can get pretty lively if there’s a good game on, or if local band Sugabeat is performing. 5. O.H.S.O. 4900 E. Indian School Rd., Phoenix From Arcadia Tavern, it’s just a quick trip across Indian School to O.H.S.O. for the finale of your Arcadia booze cruise. There’s no better place to kick back and soak up the day than O.H.S.O.’s canal-side back patio. On Saturday and Sundays from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., you can enjoy its famous Beer Brunch – a beer or mimosa plus your choice of a delish meal off the Beer Brunch menu for just $10. 6. Group Pedal Tours Tour de Tavern: 3622 N. Scottsdale Rd., Scottsdale Tour de Tavern and Arizona Party Bike offer BYOB booze cruises on 14-seater bikes. You and your friends will drink, pedal and enjoy a tour of Old Town Scottsdale’s best watering holes. Learn more about these “pedal-powered party bikes” atarizonapartybike.com and tourdetavern.com.
