Over the course of her career, Scholz has worked a variety of positions at over seven schools. In each role, Scholz strives to help her students excel, recognizing that the students in her classroom today represent the future. The past four years have been Scholz’s second time serving the Ingleside community, her first stint beginning in the 1970s. She currently works as an Instructional Coach, a position she emphasizes as being multi-faceted and centered on the needs of the students and teachers. “At times, I’m a Data Coach assisting teachers in the analysis of assessment data and identifying standards that need to be emphasized,” said Scholz. “Other times, I’m an instructional and classroom supporter, assisting teachers with developing lessons and implementing teaching strategies and classroom procedures. I also provide resources, offer professional development training and mentor to new teachers.” Over the span of her career, Scholz has taught all content areas of grades five through eight, as well as served as an ILLP (Individual Language Learner Plan) resource teacher, site data coach, new member teacher and cheerleading coach. For Scholz, each of these roles was rewarding in its own right, although she tends to be most enthusiastic about whatever she is focused on currently. “I live in the present, so I always love what I am doing at that moment,” said Scholz. “Mostly importantly, I do whatever it takes to ensure that all students reach their full potential.” Forty years of serving students has taught her the importance of education in nurturing the people who will shape the future. She is reminded of this each time she runs in to one of her former students – which include many district teachers and staff – and witnesses their success. “Our best resource for the future are the kids that are in the classroom today,” reflected Scholz. “My goal always has been and will continue to be to help all students reach their full potential. As much as things change, they remain the same. Kids are kids, students are students. It’s all about building strong relationships.” Decades of experience have given Scholz a passion for her career which hasn’t been diminished by time. She has as much fervor for her work as she did at the start and maintains a positive attitude that enables her to see the promise in each child. “I still love doing what I do. I love it as much now as I did 40 years ago. I approach each day with the same amount of energy as I did the first year,” said Scholz.
