Full marathon starts at CityScape in downtown Phoenix, half marathon starts in downtown Tempe at University and College Drive. Participants can choose to do a 5K, 10K, half or full marathon run, all while jammin’ out to tunes. There’s also a kids race and a health and fitness expo on Saturday and Sunday. Registration fees vary depending on which race you choose to run. Participants receive a commemorative t-shirt, a beer (if you’re of age, of course) at the finish line, and a finisher medal. For more: runrocknroll.com. SUNDAY, JANUARY 15 Experience the Silk Road 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Musical Instrument Museum, 4725 E. Mayo Blvd., Phoenix. Take a trip back in time and visit the most influential trading route in history. Guests can enjoy musical performances, arts and crafts and food from the ancient cities of Asia and the Middle East. Activities include a rattle drum craft, henna body art, an Indian dance workshop, a Chinese arts ensemble performance and much more. Attendance is included with paid museum admission. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10/$15 for kids. For more: mim.org. UnCommon Market 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. at Salt River Fields, 7555 N. Pima Rd., Scottsdale. The season of gift giving may be over, but one can never be too tired of shopping. UnCommon Market isn’t your usual marketplace. Find everything from clothes to knick knacks to food and snacks. There will be a musical showcase by Laura Joy and Gypsy Wild at Harp, as well as an artist demonstration and highlight on jewelry of the region. Yoga for Kids 11 – 11:50 a.m. at the Children’s Museum of Phoenix, 215 N. 7th St., Phoenix. You’ve heard of yoga for adults, now it’s time to try yoga for kids. At the Children’s Museum of Phoenix Kid’s Yoga classes, children from ages 4 to 10 can learn focus, balance and breathing exercises with their very own class. There will music, stories, obstacle courses and more. Parents are welcome to participate as well. The class is taught by Anna Blocher-Rubin and is free with museum admission. Originally launched in 2008 as a way to help downtown merchants during the recession, the Mesa Arts and Crafts festival has grown into a traditional event for all to enjoy. Artists will be showcasing their works to the public for sale, including woodworking, metal crafts, jewelry, photography and more. There will also be live music and food available for attendees. This event is free to the public. For more: macfestmesa.com. TUESDAY, JANUARY 17 The Illusionists 7:30 p.m. at ASU Gammage Theatre, PO Box 870105, Tempe. Who doesn’t love a good magic show? The Illusionists, a group of seven men, each with their own talent, are coming to ASU Gammage Theatre. Straight from Broadway, these men will dazzle you with their amazing epic illusionist tricks and treats.
