Their band, Sugahbeat, plays reggae and samba music and is based out of Arcadia. Formerly known as Azz Izz Band, they’ve played around the Valley for the last few years. “We took a break from the band when we started having kids,” said Mark. “It was just too hard to travel and perform with kids!” The Recklings met when they became bandmates, and the connection became instant during their performances and songwriting sessions. Mark, the steel drummer, and Katherine, the band’s lead singer, are also owners of Reckling Properties based in Arcadia, where Mark is the designated broker and Katherine is a real estate agent. Sugahbeat recently released music, for a good cause. The first professionally produced music video for I Finally Feel It celebrates various local businesses, and 20 percent of the song’s proceeds are donated to the Arizona Humane Society. “This is something we have been passionate about for a while now,” said Katherine. “Giving back to the community is at the heart of who we are, so why not use the song as a way to continue that?” “Our dream would be to release each new song benefiting a different local charity,” said Mark. “The community has been great to us, so it’s important to support those who have been there for us and who supported us.” Sugahbeat is performing all across the Valley – as the weather permits – debuting the first of many upcoming song releases. “We are trying to make the world a better place, three minutes at a time,” said Mark. “If our music can bring joy to others, and raise money for a great cause, that’s all the satisfaction we need.” To download I Finally Feel It or to see upcoming info, visit sugahbeat.com.
