McClintock Drive, Tempe. Is running a 5K during the day not your favorite thing? Try something different and check out the Moonlight Madness 5K. In support of Team Red, White and Blue, a Veteran Support Organization, this race starts at 8 p.m. and follows a path around Tempe Town Lake. Runners will receive a glow- in-the-dark finisher’s medal, race bib and wristband. There will also be a raffle at the end of the race. Registration is $22. The 12th annual Phoenix Cooks extravaganza features over 50 of the Valley’s local chefs and restaurants for your tasting pleasure. Guests will be able to sample bites from each booth, as well as drink from more than 30 wine, beer and mixology tents. There will also be cooking classes and live demonstrations. Indian Bend Road, Scottsdale. This tribute run is held in memory of Kathy Maxwell, who lost her battle to sarcoma in 2012 and the race has since raised over $140K. There are two options: a 5K on the front nine of the golf course, and an 8.2K on the full course. Proceeds from this race go towards St. Joseph’s and Barrow Medical Institute.
