Her passion for cooking started when she was a child attempting to bake things but always forgetting a key ingredient. Since then, she’s had a lot of practice, leading to her latest accomplishment: her first published cookbook. Jenn was born in a small town called Highland, right outside of St. Louis. She moved with her family to Arizona in 2002, first to Scottsdale and in 2014 to Arcadia. After graduating with a Masters of Business Administration in international business from the W.P. Carey School of Business, Jenn trained with French chef Pascal Dionot to hone her passion for cooking. “I came to enjoy cooking more because I felt like I could be creative and adventurous with my ingredients and techniques,” Jenn said. Since then, Jenn has been published in three different magazines. In 2012, Jenn started “Crockpot Girl,” a way to share her crockpot recipes with the world. She’s gained over 1.5 million followers on Facebook. Around a year ago, Jenn decided to publish a cookbook. “I wanted to focus on simple and delicious recipes that would be great for everyone,” Jenn said. Get Crocked: Slow Cooker 5 Ingredient Favorites was released on February 16. The recipes are simple and include every kind of meal from breakfast to appetizers and even dessert. “My favorite would have to be the Creamy Dreamy Grits, and my family’s favorite is the Bacon-Wrapped Apple Chicken,” Jenn said. Jenn’s passion has been passed along to her daughter as well. Bali, who will be 8 years old this month, loves to bake cupcakes. Her son, Maverick, is 2 and loves to help by playing with the bowls while Bali and Jenn are in the kitchen. When Jenn isn’t cooking or sharing her recipes online, she’s golfing with her friends or sailing with her family. She’s also teaching Bali how to ride a bike and plans on taking lots of biking trips with her family in the near future. Jenn also has her very own segment on channel ABC 15, hosting Mom Mondays . She has yet to meet any celebrity chefs, but says that if she could meet one, it would be Jamie Oliver. “I admire Jamie, not only for his cooking, but also for his leadership in helping families and schools learn more about eating healthy foods,” Jenn said. So, what advice does Jenn have for aspiring chefs? “Find something you love and go for it! What’s your niche? When you find that niche, become the best at that one thing,” Jenn said. Jenn says that she loves the ease and convenience of slow cooking, so she’s always been drawn to that technique. She says that she’s not only passionate about slow cooking but also about helping people spend more time with their families. “If you don’t have to cook a whole meal when you get home, you have more time to enjoy with your family around the dinner table (eating the meal you prepared in your slow cooker all day while you were at work!),” said Jenn.
