SARRC not only provides an internship through the café, but also provides an on-site internship for adults to work in their garden. The internship started in 2015. Originally, the garden was used as a community spot for SARRC interns where they could learn a variety of skills through gardening. It was then decided that the gardening could be turned into an employment opportunity. Interns work in the garden growing and harvesting seasonal vegetables and microgreens. They also have an on-site chicken coop that produces organic eggs. The community supported agriculture business allows people to sign up for a 10 week season and each week they pick up a basket of fresh produce grown and harvested by the interns at SARRC. Each basket costs $20. In addition to the gardening skills interns learn through the program, they also learn customer service skills by interacting with the people who sign up for the weekly vegetable pickup. % % ' !
