The hotel’s new look starts in the ZuZu Lounge and lobby, which have been updated with new décor and furniture, keeping with the property’s signature style of 1950s modernism. Guest rooms and suites in the original wings were also upgraded with hip furnishings that are a blend of custom-built and designer pieces. “Hotel Valley Ho has evolved so much since the reopening in 2005, and the latest renovations enhance the hotel, while fitting with the core midcentury modern design,” said General Manager Andrew Chippindall. Hotel Valley Ho’s 10th anniversary special is available throughout 2016 and includes 10 percent off a guest room or suite, two welcome drinks, $10 in hotel bucks per night and a $10 room upgrade, based on availability. VH Spa for Vitality and Health is joining in on the celebration, too. They will offer a 90-minute treatment – a 60-minute custom massage and 30-minute full-body scrub or hydration wrap – for $90, plus a 20 percent service charged based on the original price of $185. “We wanted to celebrate this milestone with specials throughout the hotel, restaurant and spa for the whole year,” Chippindall said. “And we hope you’ll come join us.” Through 2016, the property is also running an Upgrade A Day promotion, where one lucky guest will be selected each day to receive a suite upgrade and two welcome drinks throughout 2016. The influx of winter visitors and tourists to Scottsdale in the mid-1950s prompted the construction of Hotel Valley Ho, which opened in 1956. At the time of its opening, Hotel Valley Ho was the sister property to the Westward Ho in downtown Phoenix. The name came from a newspaper contest, and inspiration came from the Westward Ho. Though the hotel’s buildings have been renovated, the hotel still retains its original character and style. For this reason, the property is considered “one of the best- preserved midcentury hotels in the country,” according to architect and author Alan Hess. Since its reopening in 2005, it has received a variety of accolades, including AAA’s Four Diamond award and Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards. Shortly after its opening in 1957, Robert Wagner and Natalie Wood held their private wedding reception in the hotel’s ballroom. Other notable guests include Zsa Zsa Gabor, Bing Crosby, Jimmy Durante, Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh.
