DAVID WRIGHT HOUSE SEEK 1. is the property associated with events that have made a significant contribution to the broad patterns of our history? Frank Lloyd Wright, arguably America’s most famous archi- tect, entitled the plans for the house “How to live in the South- west” , and the David Wright House is an iconic example of the westward Sunbelt migra- tion that characterized Mid- Century, post-World War II living in America. 2. is the property associ- ated with the lives of persons of significance to our past? At the height of Mr. Wright’s ca- reer, from 1930-1959, Wright’s audience was worldwide. Mr. Wright is regarded by many as America’s greatest architect. 3. is the property represen- tative of the work of a master and possessing high artistic values? It was Wright who lit the way to Modernism for European archi- tects, with his freely composed planes and fluid spaces, dissolv- ing the boundary between inte- rior and exterior spaces. These themes of space and the disso- lution of boundary are pro- foundly celebrated in this home, Frank Lloyd Wright’s last residential masterpiece. 4. has the property yielded or may be likely to yield information important in the understanding of our pre-history or history of the City of Phoenix? The David Wright House prop- erty is one of only three parcels that remain in Arcadia that is of the historical Arcadian lot size (five acres or more). To see this property, at the base of Camelback Mountain, allows a visitor to step back in time to see Arcadia as it historically was, and fortunately for us, as it still is today.
