The entire video of the proceedings and any presentations made during the meeting is available on the district website, susd. org. Here are some of the highlights: • Director of Instruction Dr. Andi Fourlis resigned and it will be effective July 1. Dr. Karen Benson will assume the position. • Recommendations were made regarding district diversity and inclusion plan, and the middle school planning guide. No formal action was taken on these matters. The district presented a budget for the 2016 fiscal year. • While the budget includes $10.8 million as a result of the renewal of the M&O Override, there is an overall reduction of $3.3 million. The reduction is the result of multiple factors, including loss of students, cuts in state funding and increased operations costs. • The district Budget Committee, comprised of parents, teachers, administrators and community members, proposed a list of cuts, A resignation and 2016 budget including administrative cuts in the amount of $389,000. • The proposed budget allocates 69.3 percent of all dollars to the classroom in the form of classroom expenses, student support, and instructional support, and maintains the local tax rate for SUSD as the lowest among its peer districts. • The proposed budget can be viewed online On a celebratory note, the district was proud to announce that SUSD 2015 graduates earned $57.3 million in college scholarships. The SUSD administrative office is open 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday and closed on Fridays during the summer. The enrollment office is open Monday through Friday.
