Page 4 July 2015 Keeping cool the best we can By Amanda Goossen After a somewhat cooler May and early June, the Phoenix temperatures have finally met their potential. Currently sitting pretty at 112, these types of temps promise to stick around for the long haul. I almost feel bad for the weatherman (or woman) who has to stand in front of the green screen and wave his or her hand at a week of 112s. Everyone groans. We all know it’s coming but we always forget exactly how hot this side of 110 feels. Admittedly, I’m one of those annoying people who, all year long, whenever someone complains about the coming heat, I counter with, “Oh, you totally get used to it,” or, “We have perfect weather eight months out of the year, so it’s worth it.” I tend to be a glass half full kinda gal. Until the first sign of double digits. Then I’m moaning. Whining. Sitting in the pool with only my nose and eyes above the water and a giant sun hat covering the top of my head, the brim dipping into the water every couple of minutes as I bob up and down.
