The bus is dedicated to providing young people with tours of the studio as well as free songwriting, performance and production workshops, no matter their background, knowledge or experience. It’s a traveling musical education center. The bus tour had recently been a part of the South by Southwest Music Festival in Texas before making its way to St. Thomas. As the sixth-grade boys climbed the steps to the tour bus, their eyes grew with wonder at the equipment set up before them. We could even do an interview about the cafeteria food!” The boys laughed and their excitement was contagious. When it was time for Miss Haley’s class to go, they said farewell to the engineers and waved goodbye to the big, blue bus, no doubt trying to contain their excitement of that morning’s activities. Later, when asked about the experience, Miss Haley discussed how much the students enjoyed the morning. “They thought it was amazing that on the bus you could record a song, make a music video, and travel around the country,” said Miss Haley. “I loved seeing them show their interest in music by asking questions about everything the bus had to offer.” For more information visit lennonbus.org.
