The group was invited by Sara Bong, Vice President/Director of Program Development at MidAmerica Productions. The performance has made an everlasting impact on the students. “I am so glad we could be a part of the performance at Carnegie Hall; it’s an experience I’ll never forget,” said Channing Kehoe, sixth- grade student at All Saints’ Episcopal Day School. “We had the opportunity to combine our talents with other youth choirs, which helped us become a better choir and we were able to improve ourselves from the experience.” The students were not the only ones that learned something during this trip. The choir director, Scott Youngs, collaborated with other conductors that worked with the group. “It was a pleasure to watch another conductor work with our kids,” Youngs said. “It gives me a chance to step back, see how they respond and consider how successful our systems are.” Scott Youngs said he was fortunate enough to grow up in Tucson during a time when music played a large role in the public education system. He started with the Tucson Boys Chorus and later studied in France and Switzerland. He has been all over the world and brings a positive energy to All Saints’ with the goal of educating, inspiring, training and fulfilling an appreciation of music and art. He said he was very pleased with his group’s performance on their trip. “I am always thrilled by our students’ performances,” Youngs said. “The work they have put into their rehearsals shows them in their best light, and they always come alive with a special energy when onstage. Being onstage in Carnegie Hall brought out their very best.” The group was in New York for about a week in which they participated in a cross- cultural event with choirs from the United States and China. The choral performance took place during Chinese New Year and was an opportunity for these students to meet others with similar interests from around the world. “Carnegie Hall is amazing; the acoustics are really good and the sound is great,” said A student braves the New York weather to perform at Carnegie Hall. 7027 E. 5th Ave. Scottsdale, AZ 85251 (480) 946-3330 SPRING STYLE New merchandise arriving daily! 4410 East Camelback Road Phoenix, Arizona 85018 (602) 956-0140 SHOP NOW • ShopAlix.com KACHINA Quality Dry Cleaning 602-955-5540 3926 E.
