In honor of all things sweet, we’ve discovered a fun little ice cream spot, Shakes & Cones, in the heart of Old Town Scottsdale. Recently opened by two siblings and their spouses, this family run business is ready and waiting to satisfy your every soft serve ice cream craving. Not far from Shakes & Cones, also in Old Town, is a creative, gourmet candy shop boasting a name as imaginative as their eats: Super Chunk. Their giant chunks of handmade candy helped inspire the name and will have your sweet tooth salivating. Plus, the generous boys at Brophy College Prep have found a way to combine cookie baking and fundraising, putting together mason jars full of cookie their school’s many charities. At a school that requires community service hours and helping others, the boys have learned how sweet it is to give back! And quite possibly the best Valentine’s Day story Arcadia News could have come across this month, we bring to you a story with heart, about the heart. Local resident David Anderson got in touch with us in mid-January, asking to tell his story so that he could thank the people who saved his life. He was desperate for us to bring attention to a group of people who decided to act so quickly on January 3rd. Without those heroic individuals, he and the doctors are positive David would have died. A heart attack left the 51-year-old Fast-acting strangers came to his rescue. Feel the love and read the full story on page 21.
