Page 48 December 2 0 1 4 By Mallory Gleich For more than 50 years, All Saints’ Episcopal Day School has been home to pre-K through 8th-grade students in the surrounding areas of Phoenix. Recently the school celebrated their latest expansion, which allowed for new athletic fields, a garden area, a larger parking lot and a brand new walkway dubbed “All Saints’ Way.” This is not the first expansion for the school. All Saints’ school was founded in 1963, and since then has experienced a great deal of change. In 1988 an art and music building, a library, a sports area and computer labs were added to the campus. From then until 2006, several other buildings were added, including the David John Watson Academic Building and the Father Carl G. Carlozzi Gymnasium. The construction also added Manning Hall, which serves as a meeting place and cafeteria. In 2007, a couple of other facilities were built, specifically a pre-K center complete with classrooms and a new playground, a new band room and a memorial garden. The school celebrated their newest development with a dedication ceremony that took place on October 22. In addition to the garden and athletic fields, there is also plenty of open space that will eventually become more classrooms and possibly a performing arts center. “The plan is, in future phases, that [the new expansion area] will become the new front entrance to the school,” said Chief Development Officer Tina Burgoz. Burgoz explained that what they build next is based on future survey results detailing what the parent population’s priority is for the school. The first phase of the expansion dealt On October 22, a ribbon cutting ceremony celebrated the opening of All Saints’ larger campus. All Saints’ Way used to be an actual street used by the public. After the acquisition, the school purchased the street and turned it into a walkway that connects to the new parking lot. “With this new extension, the school has essentially doubled the size of the current campus, so there is lots of room for growth,” said Burgoz.
