Page 42 November 2014 It is with pride and pleasure that Tavan Elementary kindergarteners through fifth- graders are participating in a program where they will write letters to our troops for the holidays. This is in partnership with a local shopping mall. Each year, the generous people of Macerich and Scottsdale Fashion Square, sponsor Packages from Home, where they gather food, letters of encouragement, sundry items and more to send to our troops overseas. Tavan students generate the letters! Last year Navajo and Tavan Elementary schools wrote over 500 letters that were included. The troops love receiving boxes from home, and some of them even wrote back to the students. Whether they write back is not the important aspect to our Wildcats, though.
