Page 18 June 2 0 14 Looking for a Father’s Day gift? Think local and original By Michelle Donati-Grayman As Father’s Day approaches every year, I find myself scouring stores and poring over websites in an attempt to find the perfect gift. Sometimes, I’m successful – like this past Christmas when I found a Sriracha gift basket – which happens to be my dad’s favorite condiment. However, more often than not, I end up settling for a gift card to a home improvement store. He claims to love it, but I have to believe that’s the equivalent of buying mom a blender. This year, I started early and looked local to create a list of my own that hopefully will serve as a resource for other Arcadians shopping for their dads this month: For the craft beer lover… If your dad is into the craft beer craze, give him the gift of crafting his own at an O.H.S.O. “Brew with Us” event. At the events, guests learn about the brewing process, help brew beer and craft their own versions of beer. The cost is $50, but that includes a $50 gift certificate to O.H.S.O. Register for “Brew with Us” on your Smartphone by downloading the O.H.S.O. app. You can also call 602-955- 0358 for more information. For the grill master… The Phoenician, a AAA Five Diamond property, is offering a BBQ Basics for Dads & Kids class on Saturday, June 14. At the event, families will learn about marinades, rubs (which the kids will get to put together and mix) as well as techniques and methods to grill chicken, pork and beef. Dads will receive a gift basket with house-made BBQ sauce from Relish Burger Bistro, golf balls and a Phoenician apron to take home. The event is open to resort guests only. The cost is $49 for adults and $24 for children 12 and younger. Summer room rates are a steal at $159 per night. For more information, visit thephoenician.com. For the foodie… Whether you make the journey to Queen Creek or the storefront at the Biltmore Fashion Park, a gift from the Queen Creek Olive Mill is sure to satisfy the foodie in every dad. The company offers olive oils, balsamic vinegar, stuffed olives, jarred spreads and other specialty foods that can be purchased à la carte or as a gift basket. If your dad is into spicy food, he’ll love the chile or chile lime-infused olive oil ($13.95 per bottle). If he’s more of a bacon guy, the mill’s bacon-infused olive oil ($15.95 per bottle) is sure to be a hit. For more information, visit queencreekolivemill.com. For the stressed… Most dads get regular haircuts, but they likely don’t indulge in many extras at the barbershop. Pamper dad this Father’s Day by spoiling him with a package from V’s Barbershop. Options range from The Works ($45) which includes a shampoo, haircut, shave and shoeshine to The Whole Deal ($70), which includes a relaxing facial and face massage, in addition to everything included in The Works. Gift certificates are available for purchase at V’s Barbershop, which is located at 4801 E. Indian School Road, Suite 3. For the hard to buy for (aka my dad)… La Grande Orange creates custom gift baskets for all occasions, including Father’s Day. Contents are based on what you think dad would enjoy, with the help of LGO’s suggestions. Options for basket components include wine, microbrews, gourmet cheese, meats, olives and other treats. An assortment of books, including my personal favorite, “Dads are the Original Hipsters,” by Brad Getty as well as masculine-scented candles to help Dad relax and unwind also are available. There is a $10 charge for the basket along with the cost of the contents. For more information, call 602-840-7777. No matter what type of guy your dad is, don’t be afraid to get creative this Father’s Day. Perhaps the best gift of all will be surprising him with a thoughtful gift that comes from the heart. Spoil Dad with relaxation at V’s Barbershop. O.H.S.O. offers “Brew with Us” courses. Like us on

Dear Susan and Rich, I know the sale of Mom’s home was a challenge on a lot of levels. Your suggestions for showing; working through what seemed like an insurmountable title issue (I’m not sure anyone else could have done that on the first run at it like you did – that took a tremendous amount of expertise and singular focus); sharing resource information when I had no idea where to begin… My words can never express how much I appreciate you and all of your considerable efforts on our behalf. Everyone should have the good fortune to work with such an outstanding team. - Bev Hanson Golden Keys Townhome. 2 Bd., 2 Ba., Corner Lot. $235,000 Can’t get any cuter! Arcadia Schools. 2 Bd., 1Ba.
