Page 18 May 2014 Budding artist shows love for mom through comic books By Amanda Goossen Nate Fox is a creative kid. So when Arcadia News did a shout out for Mother’s Day stories, there were no long paragraphs or simple quotes from this 8-year-old Biltmore Prep second grader. Instead, Nate sent Arcadia News a six- page comic book, with a hilarious and imaginative story about what makes his mom, Kathy Fox, Mega Mom! “My mom plans the best birthday parties ever, she drives me to my activities all week and on the weekends and we have so much fun together,” said Nate. His comic book illustrates this, showing his mom using her mommy super powers to fight the dust bunnies, battle the dirt at bath time and make him his favorite meals. As any mom would know, this is an extra precious honor because Nate has recognized all the things most moms do every day. For Nate, his love of drawing, creating characters in his handmade comic books and being on the stage in both theatrical performances and when practicing his love of ventriloquism, showing his mom his love through his artistic passions just made sense. 1 2 3 4
